For our activities in Germany, we are currently looking for a person to provide Data Centre Test and Products Operations Engineer Consultancy Support. TASKS Provision of support to the daily monitoring and first line support of the Data Centre, and analysis and reporting of operational anomalies. Provision of support to the user queries received by the user service helpdesk regarding Data Centre services. Support to the development of Data Centre tools for monitoring and reporting. Provision of support to prototyping concepts for evolving the Data Centre services to support current and future EUMETSAT programmes. Provision of support to the test automation of the Data Centre evolutions. Provision of support to the development of new formats for the Archive data. Provision of support to metadata content and their specification in the new formats. Preparation and maintenance of Data Centre documentation such as operational procedures and service guides for users. Preparation of material to support the usage of Data Centre services. SKILLS University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering science discipline Excellent team working skills, able to work autonomously and have good analytical skills. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require also very good communication, presentation skills combined with the ability to perform under high workloads The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas Fluency in English is mandatory with good communication skills EU national or valid work permit for Germany CV in Europass format Minimum 3 years of skills and experience in Working in an operations environment supporting the analysis of system and user support issues Good knowledge of the testing and test automation for a complex hardware and software system Experience of working with Earth Observation data formats, their visualisation and processing Programming experience in Java language, UNIX environment, scripting in Shell and Perl Technical knowledge for specification, validation and transformation using XMLXSDXLT and their associated tools Experience in using SQL to access relational databases such as Oracle Experience of handling and manipulating binary data Distinct advantage Experience in the development of the product formats, ideally netCDF and HDF. Good knowledge of standards, conventions and guidelines for the specification of metadata for Earth Observation data, for example Climate and Forecast Conventions. Experience with Meteorological data formats such as McIDAS, GeoTiff, BUFR and GRIB. Experience with using Data Access tools such as IDV, MATLAB, IDL and THREDDS. Knowledge of the SubVersion source code control systems. Knowledge of Software Development Environments such as the Eclipse. Knowledge of the QFS Test automation software. Tasks and Responsibilities You will be integrated into the Data Processing Team of the MTG Ground Segment. Your overarching task will be to support the procurement activities for the MTG L0, L1 and L2 data processing facilities, primarily by developing and consolidating the knowledge needed to acquire the mission data processing functionality for online and offline functions, including functionality providing common support, such as data handling, processor allocation and monitoring, job control, and general MC, and by supporting the technical interface to industrial consortia. As MTG Data Processing System Procurement Engineer you will support the development, verification validation, onsite delivery, acceptance and warranty of the MTG data processing systems. In addition, support for ground segment integration and system validation activities may be required. In particular your tasks will include Support the procurement of the data processing elements by advising on technical solutions proposed by the contractor and by reviewing documentation to confirm its compliance with the requirements Support organisation and execution of facility reviews e.g. PDR, CDR, TRR including processing and handling of the RIDs, tracking RIDs resolutions and actions, verification of satisfactory documentation updates. Support management of the requirements baseline for data processing elements, including L0, L1 and L2 detailed processing specifications, and their lifecycle, including organisation of technical meetings for requirement consolidation, implementing and tracking documentation updates Follow up the implementations of the framework elements and the operational processors support and monitor contractors, organise and participate to progress meetings, formal reviews, technical and interface definition workshops Support a proper knowledge transfer from EUMETSAT to industry, especially for operational concepts, working practices and procedures, and ensure that the design and implementation of the data processing system correctly support such operational needs Develop and maintain, as well as support procurement of test tools and test dataset including reference processors and reference test datasets that reflect the functionality defined in the processing specifications Support the verification and validation, deployment, acceptance and warranty of the operational software. Requirements Essentials In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as computer science, physics, mathematics or remote sensing, you should bring a minimum of three years experience in software engineering for operational processing of satellite or meteorological data. Knowledge and experience of the following is mandatory Processes, phases and documentation related to procurement of data processing systems, preferably for operational satellite payload data processing for Earth Observations System and Software engineering as well as specification, development, and testing of operational software, preferably for earth observation systems Formal software testing, verification and validation of data processing systems andor product processors L1 or L2 for satellite data or other meteorological data Development and testing of software in UNIX environments. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for this position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language. Desirables Practical knowledge of as many as possible of the following will be an advantage Radiometric and spectral calibration, use of radiative transfer models, development of complex scientific software for the processing of large amount of data ECSS standards The ability to perform under high workloads Very good communication, presentation and listening skills including the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context. A vacancy for an OnBoard Software Advanced Studies Data Processing Engineer has arisen within the Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage. The Department is involved in the complete lifecycle of activities relating to Data Processing and Embedded Realtime Software OnBoard the Spacecraft. Data processing systems hardware and software host provide a wide range of functional services depending on the mission of the space system, including data monitoringcollection, data transport processing between the system elements as well as defining new onboard computer architectures for platforms and payloads. The Advanced Studies team is involved in a number of transnational planetary exploration robotic projects, focussing on all aspects of data processing and software engineering. The team specialises in a number of robotic engineering topics, including robotic control operating systems computer vision robotic mission operations control telerobotics autonomous systems validation humanrobot interaction planetary locomotion systems robotic arms manipulator control. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Developing software to demonstrate new dataprocessing techniques. Design and implement prototype realtime software, to implement various signal and data processing functions onboard the space platform. Implement software for European Space Agency and internal RD contracts, based on a set of software requirements e.g. for custom space network protocols, image processing, fault tolerant mechanisms. Commission and bring up new embeddedprocessor boards, including design and implementation of board Basic Software. Define and implement PCbased software for support and verification of software implemented on embedded processors, including GUI. Support internal improvement activities. Participate in the preparation of technical proposals in response to space agencies or other funding institutions, and awarded RD activities. Participate in workshops presentations within Airbus Defence and Space, Working groups and Space Agency establishments. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or RoboticsMechatronicsElectronics Engineering with a strong Software Engineering component. Proven experience in Embedded Realtime Systems Software Engineering SW tools and environments within the SatelliteSpace or avionic industry. Proven experience in developing Software using ANSIC, C. HWSW Low Level Interfaces Drivers Embedded Software Development. Excellent practical understanding of Software Engineering Lifecycle Process. Experience with the Development of Robotic Systems.
