The Data Processing Engineer shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release processes in the area of data processing systems from instrument source packet level through to level2. The Engineer shall also be responsible for the coordination of the evolutions of these systems. The Engineer duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operations and maintenance currently in the launch preparation phase, the analysis and testing of the facilities including the handling of anomalies, and the design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The Engineer shall be the focal point for integrating the individual software components into the related data processing systems, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including support to the endto end testing of the complete production system. The Engineer duties will also cover the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of monitoring tools for Sentinel3. In support to operations, the Engineer may also be required to provide oncall support as part of a team of maintenance engineers. PROFILE The official languages of EUMETSA T are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Consultant must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. The consultant shall have the following At least 3 years experience in the maintenance and engineering of large scale software systems, specifically missioninstrument data processing related Knowledge of software development lifecycles and demonstrable experience Competence in software testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation Experience in software debugging and profiling Experience of source code control systems preferably Subversion. The following specific technical skills are highly desirable Experience with DFEP processors as used by S3 and LO processmg within a framework based solution PDGS for S3 Knowledge of the ESA generic Instrument Processing Facility IPF interface specification Networking technologies and tools e.g. CCSDS protocols, Space Data Link protocols, FTP, PGM, TCPIP, UDP multicasting, and tools such as Wireshark CCJava programming language experience in a UNIXLinux based environment Knowledge of scripting languages e.g. Python, Perl Knowledge of web technologies, programming and markup languages e.g. Apache, CGI, JavaScript, XML and related technologies XPATH, SVG, etc..
