EPSSG System Test Tools Data Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. In this role, you will have the following responsibilities Identification of EO test tools and test data required to support VV activities and definition of development procurement approach and associated planning Preparation of User Requirement Documents, Statements of Work Development and validation of test tools and their maintenance Procurement of test tools test data and acceptance testing Simulation of test data sets for VV using available tools Compilation of test data sets using real data from satellite instruments Support for configuration management of tools test data sets Operational support of the tools during system and ground segment VV Contributions to the analysis of test results and the preparation of test reports Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in engineering, physics or equivalent Several years experience with the development of onground processing of data from satellite instruments for Earth observation VV activities for instrument processing chains, including test tools and test data Software specification, design and development according to ECSS standards Proficient knowledge of programming languages, such as Fortran, CC, Java Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of French would be an advantage. Description The activities performed by the keyperson will be an input for the overall System and ground segment VV activities. The keyperson will typically be involved in tasks related to test tools test data, with focus on tools data required for VV of instrument data processing chains. Tools can serve for example the purpose of test data generation manipulation reformatting, test data injection into the ground segment and test data collection analysis. Typical tasks include Identification of the suite of test tools and test data required to support VV activities, and definition of development procurement approach and associated planning. Preparation of User Requirement Documents, Statements of Work, etc., as needed as input for development andor procurement activities. Support for inhouse development and validation of test tools and their maintenance. Support for procurements of test tools test data, including the analysis of received deliverables and attending acceptance tests. Support for acceptance of test tools test data provided by partners. Simulation of test data sets for VV using available tools compilation of test data sets using real data from satellite instrument onground tests or inorbit operation. In case of tools to be connected to the ground segment, input for the specification and test of relevant interfaces. Support for configuration management of tools test data sets, using applicable EUMETSAT processes. Operation of the tools, or support for it, when used for system and ground segment VV activities. Contributions to the analysis of test results and the preparation of test reports. In addition the keyperson will be involved in some more general tasks Participation in relevant internal and external meetings. Regular review of System level documentation dealing with requirements, system concepts, architecture and design, technical analyses, to identify information of importance for test tools test data. In addition, and with the same aim, analysis of documents provided by other teams in EUMETSAT and by external partners. Support for the preparation of documentation for System level reviews, during the covered period the System Requirements Review and Preliminary Design Review. Some activities will involve interactions with other teams, primarily in the LEO division, and also, as relevant for the work, with engineers at partner agencies. Profile The keyperson shall have the following experience and background University degree in the domain of engineering, physics or equivalent. At least 5 years of general experience with the development of onground processing of data from satellite instruments for Earth observation. At least 5 years of direct involvement in VV activities for instrument processing chains, including production of test tools and of test data. At least 5 years of experience with software specification, design and development and relevant standards. Very good skills in higher programming languages, such as Fortran, CC, Java. The keyperson shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Heshe shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. Heshe shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the keyperson must be able to work effectively in this language, knowledge of French being an advantage.
