Tasks The key person shall work as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team. The Mission Control Applications MCA and Tools Team is responsible for the maintenance and development of the following Mission Control Applications Spacecraft Monitoring Control, Local Applications Monitoring Control, Onboard software management, Flight Dynamics System, Mission Planning System, OpsPrep Tools, Data analysis and reporting tools, Spacecraft Simulator. The Mission Control Applications and Tools Team performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Applications and Tools for GEO and LEO missions. Software engineering for the reuse of Mission Control Applications and Tools with the separation between generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. Integration and verification at application and system level. User and software support to flight control teams. Support to the EUMETSAT Programme Preparation and Development PRD Department for the PhaseBCD of new missions in the domain of Mission Control Applications. The key person will provide hisher prime support to the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team and heshe will contribute to the requirements specification, design and development of Mission Control Applications for new Programmes PhaseBCD, including the setting up of the related maintenance arrangements and processes. The tasks of the key person will typically include Support to GSI MCA Activities Reference Architecture Participation to the definition and maintenance of the EUMETSAT TSS reference architecture for the Mission Control Applications part of the Ground Segment. Support to new Missions PhaseB activities Requirements engineering Participation to the functional analysis and decomposition of the Ground Segment requirements in the domain of Mission Control Applications. Support the definition of Ground Segment requirements in the area of the Mission Control Applications. Participation to workshops and review meetings. Interfacing with Operations to consolidate the operational concept in the Mission Control Applications requirements. Support the identification of the verification method and initial test cases for the Mission Control Applications requirements. Incorporate the reuse of the EUMETSAT Mission Control Application kernel products in the Ground Segment requirements. Interfacing with the Mission Control Applications kernel product experts in the MCA Team to coordinate their contributions to the requirements definition. System Architectural design Support the generation of the architectural system level design of the Mission Control Applications as part of the Ground Segment. Support the production of design models using Systems Engineering and CASE tools. Support the definition and documentation of all interfaces IRDsICDs between the elements of the Mission Control Applications and other Ground Segment or external elements. Incorporate the reuse of the EUMETSAT Mission Control Applications kernel products in the Ground Segment design. Support to New Mission PhaseCD activities Support to Applications implementation Support to the requirement and design engineering activities as part of the applications development. Participation and contribution in requirements, design and implementation reviews both internal and with external contractors. Follow the software development by external contractors of the Mission Control Applications. Support to IVV and Acceptance Participation in verification readiness reviews and verification testing campaigns both internal and with external contractors. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of specification, design, implementation and maintenance of Mission Control Applications. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas Domain Skills Experience minimum 3 years in the definition of system requirements and production of system architectural design artefacts in the domain of the Mission Control Applications of a Ground Segment. Experience minimum 3 years in the definition of requirements and architectural design for the following individual subsystems Satellite Monitoring Control, Mission Planning and Flight Dynamics. Experience minimum 3 years in software maintenance and evolution of Satellite Monitoring Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular experience in the telemetry and commanding chains, archive and automation components is considered mandatory. Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE. Software Development, Verification Maintenance Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the full cycle of development of Mission Control Applications following formal software engineering processes. Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities for Mission Control Applications following formal engineering processes. Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems GNC Engineer 1411052 Job Description The holder of this post reports functionally to the System Engineering Manager SREPNS of the Lisa Pathfinder mission and will work closely with the Software systems engineer, MechanicalThermal systems engineer and Electrical systems engineer. The AOCS is currently supported by existing TECECC expert. Within the project guidelines and constraints the duties will include the following The post holder is responsible for all control engineering activities relating to the Lisa Pathfinder Project up to the inorbit commissioning review. The expected launch date is mid 2015 and inorbit commissioning review nominally takes place 90 days after launch. The control systems engineering discipline relating to the Lisa Pathfinder Project mainly comprise of the Dragfree attitude control system DFACS, 15 coupled control loops as well as AOCS. The DFACS control systems is the main component for achieving inorbit demonstration of the unprecedented low differential acceleration noise for the two free floating Test Masses in the Inertial Sensor subsystem. In particular, correct tuning and robustness of the DFACS will likely define the ultimate performance of the Lisa Pathfinder mission objectives. Hence, the post holder will also have a major responsibility for verifying the science performance budget of the mission. Specifically, the main tasks of the post include Supervising the design and implementation of the DFACS and AOCS subsystems effectively finished. Supervising the verification of DFACS in particular performed by Industry AOCS verification is to a large extent finished. This includes the test planning, test procedure development, test execution and analysis of test results as well as taking part in nonconformance review boards. Monitoring the schedule of DFACS verification onground and inorbit commissioning. Supervising the DFACS user manual prepared by Industry for correctness. Supervising the inorbit commissioning of DFACS that will be performed by Industry. Liaison with STOC and MOC for the preparations of handover of the SC after inorbit commissioning for the DFACS. This involves following science operations simulations before launch and assessing nonconformant observations raised during such simulations for impact on DFACS. Verification of the DFACS and science performance achieved in his specific field of competence, supporting System Engineering manager on the definition of the flight operations constraints and procedures, and the mission operations the preparation and implementation of the launch and commissioning phase. Required Skills and Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Fluency in English. An extensive insight and good experience in control engineering and verification of complex control systems is required.
