Network Engineer Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, CNES and EUMETSAT. This is an opportunity for an university graduated engineer or equivalent with several years of experience in Network infrastructure Engineering and analyzing complex systems to support our customer in the development and deployment of Network infrastructure services and solutions. The position will be located at EUMETSAT and will start in April 2014. RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES The Engineer shall be required to carry out the following general tasks Network Infrastructure, Services and Solutions specification Deployment Rollout planning and scheduling Install, configure network equipment Perform Integration, Verification and Testing Contribute to specification and update of network systems, services and solutions roadmap and strategy Support procurements of network systems and services provide equipment specification and costs estimation, provide service specification, compile detailed equipment lists, perform evaluation and comparison of offers on service andor equipment, contribute to supplier negotiations The Engineer is expected to generate and maintain documentation as an essential part of the tasks above. QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE University degree in the domain of engineering, equivalent Several years of experience in Network Infrastructure Engineering in a complex IT environment ESSENTIAL SKILLS At least 6 skills of the following is required Understanding of the business needs imposed by satellite ground systems environments or similar on networking, experience of translating these into needs on network infrastructure, functions and systems Ability to analyse complex systems and to present them in a comprehensible way, with the specific ability to understand relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects Experience of network engineering in these environments throughout its lifecycle, from identification of needs to deployment Experience of carrying out specifying, preparing, planning and executing network engineering activities, including their coordination and technical guidance, working with other engineers within and outside the team involved in the activities, and with the customersusers and other stakeholders Indepth knowledge of Cisco technology and solutions for these environments. It will be considered beneficial if the key person holds a current Cisco certification or is able to substantiate equivalent experience Ability to present verbally and in writing network solutions and systems in a comprehensible way, with the specific ability to explain relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects.
