The Fleet Operations Mission Planner MP is an engineer reporting to the Mission Planning Lead and is responsible for all aspects of spacecraft operations planning. A successful candidate is an engineer or technician with satellite subsystem and operations knowledge. The MP understands constraints to satellite and ground system operations, activity dependencies, systems limitations, and operational priorities. Tasks include analyzing and processing planning requests for feasibility, contact scheduling, and mission plan development and publishing. In addition, the Mission planner will process realtime change requests and modifications to the plan. The planner interfaces with other crew positions, resolves conflicts, and makes notifications per the Mission Planning process. Responsibilities Development, deconfliction, and publishing of the constellation mission plan Receive, process, screen and deploy spacecraft activity schedules Deconflict plan requests based on operational priorities and constraints Configure, operate, and troubleshoot planning system software applications Respond to unscheduled outages, applications software issuesfailures Perform onconsole mission planning activities in a rotating shift environment Required Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will have experience in Satellite and ground system operations Activity prioritization and planning Realtime schedule deconfliction Spacecraft activity feasibility analysis Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of all aspects of job and take initiative Excellent oral and written skills and communication briefing skills is essential. A minimum of 2 years of aerospace industry or equivalent experience required with 5 years preferred. Direct experience in resource or mission planning software application system configuration and operation, Launch and Early Obit Operations, sustaining Satellite Operations, and Flight Dynamics is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines in high stress environments Multisatellite LEO constellation operations experience is a plus. No visa sponsorship is available for this position.

Rosetta Science Mission Planner and Archive support

Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our service support within the Science and Robotic Exploration Directorate DSRE. Aurora currently has a team of 20 engineers and scientists at ESAC including support to the Rosetta mission. ESA require an extension of our service to provide an experienced engineer. Overview The Rosetta Science Operations in the Rosetta Science Ground Segment is led by the Rosetta Science Operations Managers in close coordination with the Mission Manager, who has overall responsibility for the Rosetta mission, and with the Project Scientist, who is responsible for optimizing the science return of Rosetta. A basic principle of the Rosetta science operations is the requirement for a strong involvement by each PI team for the preparation of the science operations. The Science Working Team SWT advises the project scientist on science matters for the mission and indirectly assists the RSGS in elaborating science strategies and maximizing the scientific return of the mission. Tasks The work is to provide strong support Auroras Rosetta lead mission planner, Miguel Perez, and will include the Long, Medium and Short term science planning. The job shall also include support for Rosetta with the Planetary Science Archive PSA as follows Interact with the Downlink Science Operations Manager and Project Scientist to ensure that Rosetta archive needs are addressed in the area of general PDS and PSA software development. Such interactions shall include the provision of requirements. Interact with the PSA Software developer to check the correct implementation of user requirements. Aid in the validation of PSA software specific to the Rosetta mission, including DVAL, PRVV, APC, Archive interface. Interact with the PDS for issues specific to the Rosetta mission archive. Interact with and provide support to the PI teams in the area of archive product generation, delivery validation. Support the archive product validation process including reviews. You will report to the Aurora ESAC service manager, Hugo Costa. Specific qualification requirements University degree preferably Masters in Planetary Science Physics or equivalent and relevant professional experience in science operations. Experience needed in the mission planning and operations of a scientific operations centre or a similar system. A minimum of 2 years experience in satellite payload operations. You must be able to work in English. Be able to work independently and also work with colleagues within a small team. Experience with Rosetta is very beneficial. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in Spain without the need to obtain a work visa. Only European Union citizens can be employed by Aurora in Spain. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the ESAC, the European Space Astronomy Centre, at Villafranca del Castillo, near Madrid, Spain. The work will be performed closely with ESTEC and require some travel. Contract You will be registered for both social security and tax in Spain. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual holidays. In addition to public health services Aurora provides private medical insurance in Spain.
