Satellite Power System Architect

ATG is currently looking for a Satellite Power System Architect, to be deployed at our customers location in Bremen, Germany. Our client is one of the top players in the European space technology industry, offering solutions for complete satellites, scientific payloads and structures. The company is currently working on major European satellite development and manufacturing programs and is looking for support within the Electrical Systems department. Tasks and Responsibilities Architect for the concept, detailed design, trades, analyses, and final definition of the electrical power system EPS and its units for project specific satellite applications consisting of solar arrays, batteries, PCDU, and SADMSADE Consultancy, support, and review of predevelopment proposals phase AB Specification of the system and units all phases Management and supervision of the EPS subcontractors for all project phases from RFIproposal stage up to final deliverylaunch Definition of the project specific SOW for EPS subcontractors Technical responsible for the subcontractor selection process Management of the project EPS team activities and resources Leading EPS level and unit level reviews Creation of system level justification documentation analyses, reports and design descriptions Management and control the interfaces with other satellite subsystems e.g. pin2pin, eICD, SRDB Point of contact for the customer and subcontractor EPS counterparts including negotiations, reviews Support, management and control of the EPS VV activities Definition and documentation of unit, system and satellitelevel tests Support to satellite projects from start to customer acceptance. Required Skills and Education A degree in engineering with a major in electrical, or space engineering, or comparable qualifications Minimum of 8 years of working experience, preferably with electrical systems or components Working, uptodate knowledge of electrical power system design for satellites Understanding of the interdependencies within the system and with the other satellite subsystems Capable of taking on the responsibility for multimillion euro contracts Excellent communication skills, flexibility and ability to work and take decisions independently Excellent presentation and negotiation skills Authority figure, capable of leading a small engineering team and represent the teams work to the customer Fluency in spoken and written English, German is considered a plus. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows a Use of protocols, processes and standards found within Spatial Data Infrastructure SDI and Service Orientated Architecture SOA you will develop approaches to provide a basis for exploiting the groups capabilities in the delivery of geospatial solutions. b Use of SDI principles to define the way the various components of a geospatial solution fit together in order to meet a business need. c Advise Airbus Defence and Space GEO Intelligence on geospatial policy and development as and when requested. d Act as a facilitator to resolve the differences between the various stakeholders, suppliers, engineers, and other interested parties involved in the project in order to reach a spatial solution which everyone accepts and which is valid and architecturally sound. e Focus on the architecturally significant aspects of a design and identify areas of high risk. f Work closely with the client in order to identify their requirements and suggest appropriate solutions and architectural approach. g Identify new opportunities where appropriate and pass to business development. h In partnership with the technical specialists within GEO Intelligence seek to develop new and innovative solutions to current and future business and client needs. i Develop appropriate technical architectures for the dissemination and delivery to users of services so that the full value of the information can be exploited. j Deliver technical content to proposals, bids and quotes. k Generate own ideas and initiatives that capitalise on existing and prospective strengths both within Airbus Defence and Space entities and external partners to drive substantive, additional benefit to clients. l Seek to develop strong relationships with a number of key accounts based on technical capability. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience I Required Experience and Technical Knowledge a Extensive experience using Geographic Information System GIS products in a commercial environment, b Experience working with Geospatial Data and Spatial Data Infrastructure SDI, c Good track record of customer liaison. d Good knowledge and experience of the geospatial domain, in the use of geospatial data and applications, including database and web technology. II Qualifications a Masters degree in relevant geospatial subject or equivalent experiencetraining GIS, Software Engineering, Computer Science. b Geospatial Standards OGC WMS, WFS, etc. III General a Proven ability to communicate effectively to staff, management and customers, b Ability to deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences, c Ability to work as part of a team as well as working in an independent discipline. The successful candidate will act as project technical authority during life cycle of the project. You will be technically responsible for producing the system EMC architecture and ensuring its consistency through design, integration and validation phases. Hawaii school selects architect for DREAMS facility

The DLR Group will partner with the Hawaii Department of Education and the Waipahu Intermediate School to design a $10 million facility for the district’s Digital media, Robotics, Engineering/electronics, Animation, Music and Science (DREAMS) program. The new 30,000-square-foot facility will have specialized learning spaces, a commons and faculty center to connect the campus, and a new auditorium.
