Communications Satellite Mission Manager

Our client is a pioneer in the application of Kaband satellite technology in Europe. They are looking to add a Mission Manager to their team to manage all aspects of their upcoming program including definition, design, procurement, integration, acceptance and delivery to the operations team. This is a high profile role reporting directly to the Companys Director of Engineering. Key responsibilities The Mission Manager will be responsible for the ongoing procurement of the mission at mission level, system level and space segment level, taking into account performance, cost and schedule requirements. At space segment level the Mission Manager will be responsible for the payload, its compatibility with the platform, launch vehicle, ground segment and regulatory requirements. To this end, the Mission Manager will Maintain and implement the mission project management plan Ensure that each contract is delivered on schedule, to cost and performance Be the primary interface between our Client and the payload manufacturers project team Monitor the requirements for project staffing and associated budgets and maintain an appropriate team Project manage the mission and proactively manage risk and the resolution of major issues ExperienceSkills Required Significant demonstrable experience of project management and procurement within the satellite industry Extensive experience with communications satellites missions and payloads expertise in hosted payloads is a definite plus Experience of working to satellite or payload contracts, requirements, statements of work and test plans Experience of setting and managing budgets and schedules Excellent problem solving skills Excellent interpersonal skills with history of effective line management and team leadership A degree in aerospace engineering or related engineering discipline Primarily based in London, the successful candidate will be required to travel to Germany, Netherlands, Canada and occasionally other supplier premises as needed.
