For our activities in the European Space Agency, we are currently seeking a Product Assurance Engineer with experience in Dependability Safety to support to EGNOS Product Assurance Safety Manager. Task Overview Contribute to establishing project specific programmatic and technical dependability and safety requirements within the framework of the ESA Product Assurance Safety baseline Support to projects in the evaluation and monitoring of Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the dependability and safety programs Support to the concurrent design facility CDF studies by performing technical risk assessment and relevant dependability and safety analyses Evaluation of dependability and safety analyses, technical notes, technical risk assessments, risk reduction processes and the associated preventive or corrective actions Defining and controlling the implementation of the applicable dependability and safety related acceptance requirements including risk acceptance criteria Support dependability and safety verification activities, including hazard closeout and disposition of related NCR, RFW and Critical Items Participating in project reviews to assess compliance with the applicable RAMS requirements and to formulate acceptreject recommendations Task Specific Implementation of general programmatic and technical dependability and safety assurance requirements in relation to ESA standards and specifications Support to projects in the monitoring of the performance of the Contractors dependability and safety assurance programs to assure their compliance with the applicable requirements, and directing and controlling risk reduction processes and any necessary preventive and corrective actions Evaluation of proposed concepts, designs and operations for compliance with defined dependability and safety requirements Liaising with software product assurance and software engineering on related matters Supporting research and study activities in the fields of dependability and safety requirements, techniques, and tools and integrated engineering process methodologies and risk management methods. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a minimum of a master degree in a science andor aerospace discipline together with at least five years of the RAMS application experience in engineering space programs, especially in ground andor ground based systems. At least three years of relevant experience in design and engineering of safety critical systems Handson knowledge of the RAMS analyses and methodologies, hardware and software, and preparation of relevant RAMS documentation covering the overall project life cycle and application of ECSS dependability and safety standards. Knowledge of RTCADO178C Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification and related certification schemes, and experience in interfacing certification authorities is considered an asset. Knowledge of EU Safety Directive as Directive 9837EC Machinery, Directive 9992EC Risk from Explosive Atmospheres, Directive 9723EC Pressure Equipment and the other safety directives relevant for space Familiarity with, space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate RAMS tools Good communication skills are required. Essential Skills Knowledge of Civil Aviation standards, DO178, DO278 and DO254 Knowledge and experience in the fields of Global Navigation Satellite Systems Knowledge in EASA CS and EC regulations for European Air Traffic Management Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment and have an attitude to cooperation and to accomplish solutions in line with team objectives Desirable Skills Experience in dependability and safety engineering management processes and objectives, experience during operations is an advantage. For our project in Noordwijk in the Netherlands we are looking for a Product Assurance and Safety Support Engineer fm at ESTEC. Tasks Support the ESA PA Safety Manager for designated projects in conducting, monitoring assessing the implementation of the PA Safety Programme. Participating in all project reviews, including safety reviews. Essential requirements For the accomplishment of the listed tasks, knowledge and experience of the following is mandatory A University degree or equivalent in engineering or technical sciences A minimum of 6 years experience in Product Assurance and Quality Assurance in the aerospace domain Good interpersonal, organisation and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse team environment Desirable Skills Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within a quality system certified to ISO 9001 would be an asset.
