Bring your knowledge and experience of remote sensing physics to provide scientific and technical expertise on measurements taken from our satellite based hyperspectral infrared sounders. The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic scientist or engineer to join our team of remote sensing experts and to assume responsibility for Hyperspectral Infrared Level1 processing. In this role you will contribute to the development of new and improved Level1 data processing chains for the InfraRed Sounder IRS instrument onboard our MTG satellites, responding to the evolving needs of our user communities. You will be responsible for the prototyping and the operational implementation of the Level1 processor. You will also support instrument recalibration and product reprocessing across all of EUMETSATs Hyperspectral IR sensors for climate monitoring. This is an opportunity to proactively work with our partners and operational user communities to define requirements for future satellite products and services. You will bring your indepth scientific knowledge of atmospheric sounding in the infrared domain and experience in processing Level1 data. You will have been exposed to developing scientific application software, ideally in partnership with users groups and researchers. With your strong analytical skills and an ability to synthesise complex information, you should be able to communicate scientific information clearly and concisely. You need to be a team player, with the capability to coordinate a number of project teams. Bringing together the resources of 30 member states, we observe the atmosphere, ocean, and land surfaces from space using a system of satellites 365 days a year. Our data is vital for weather forecasts that help to protect lives and property, as well as monitoring the environment and our changing climate. We want an expert in spaceborne infrared instruments to enhance the way we monitor the earths atmosphere. We require an experienced Remote Sensing Scientist to support our level 1 data processing chains derived from the instruments on our satellites. With experience of using hyperspectral infrared tools and data, ideally gained from using EUMETSATs products, we are seeking a skilled scientist who can initiate and lead relevant scientific studies. This is an exciting opportunity to define the requirements for future products and services, whilst supporting the way we reprocess and calibrate data to analyse our climate. You must be a team player, with the ability to collaborate with your colleagues and our international partners.
