This follows a similar deal signed with Bouygues' rival SFR at the end of July, as part of a wider content partnership with Altice France. Going live on 17 August, the Telefoot channel will show the first Ligue 1 match of the new season on 21 August.

The decision may not affect foreign telecom service providers and operators that have submitted expressions of interest in buying a stake in Ethio Telecom, it added. The decision came after the government reviewed the list of companies intent on buying a 40 percent stake in the monopoly provider.
