ASHRAE And IBPSA-USA announce second conference.

ASHRAE and IBPSA-USA have announced second, co-organized conference that encompasses ASHRAE Energy Modeling and IBPSA-USA SimBuild Conferences. Titled ASHRAE and IBPSA-USA SimBuild 2016: Building Performance Modeling, event will take place Aug 10–12, 2016. Modelers, software developers, owners, and researchers will address practices of energy modeling and building performance simulation using existing simulation tools, software development, and future simulation research and applications.

ASHRAE HQ Installs Display of first electric refrigerator.

ASHRAE Headquarters in Atlanta, GA is displaying first successful electric household refrigerator, DOMEstic ELectric REfrigerator (DOMELRE), which was manufactured 100 years ago. This historical piece was developed by Fred Wolf Jr., charter member of American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (1905) that merged with heating and ventilating engineers to form ASHRAE in 1959. DOMELRE condenser, evaporator, and motor from 1916 were installed on first floor of ASHRAE Headquarters on June 19.

Optional credit for improving filtration combined with ensuring sufficient air flow through filters is being proposed for ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 62.22013, Ventilation and Acceptable Indoor Air Quality in Residential Buildings. This standard defines roles of and minimum requirements for mechanical and natural ventilation systems and building envelope to provide acceptable IAQ quality in residential buildings. Currently, there are 8 proposed addenda to Standard 62.22013 open for public comment.

ASHRAE Installs Officers, Directors for terms starting in 2015.

At its Annual Meeting, ASHRAE installed new officers and directors for 2015–2016. New president is T. David Underwood, and his theme, Making Connections, focuses on connecting to foster "vibrant, informed and engaged ASHRAE and industry communities." Other officers are President-Elect Timothy G. Wentz, Treasurer Bjarne W. Olesen, and Vice Presidents Walid Chakroun, Patricia Graef, Charles E. Gulledge III, and James K. Vallort. Also, ASHRAE installed 7 directors to serve 2015–2018 term.

During 2015 Annual Conference, ASHRAE continued to expand its global presence with approval of new chapter in Bangladesh and sections in Ireland and Faisalabad, Pakistan. ASHRAE’s 2014-15 RP campaign reached new high of $2.53 million donated by members, chapters, and companies, and ASHRAE’s High-Performance Building Design Professional certification received accreditation from ANSI. ASHRAE also made available ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 1882015, Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems.
