Our client is a new joint venture between two large European space companies. Using their long heritage in the space industry, they are developing the nextgeneration European launchers and manned space vehicles. They have several offices in Germany and France, those in Germany are located in Bremen and Munich. Currently they are heavily involved in the development of Europes most advanced launcher and looking for a Fatigue Damage Tolerance Engineer with experience on complex space structures. Tasks and Responsibilities Damage growth analysis under repeated and continuing burden Fatigue analysis, fatigue strength analysis Ensure the structural integrity, creation of Fracture Control Plans and monitoring the implementation Definition and determine load spectra from measurements Determine local stresses with hand calculations andor finite elements method FEM for critical components Planning, Maintenance and evaluating damage tolerance and fatigue tests Create test plans and specifications Support the design in terms of fracture mechanics criteria Proper selection of inspection methods NDI Rate the material properties depending on the environment, materials technology and manufacturing process Contributions for specifying interface, quality and production requirements for customizable subsystem design Support of complex component and subsystem developments under predetermined, organizational and economic standards, and from budget, timeframe and overall architecture perspectives Technical support of the project team and the program head Adjusting existing subsystems and components according to technical specifications or customized requirements Optimizing subsystems based on systematic vulnerability analysis Contributions to external documentation of the results, as damage tolerance reports, load spectra documentation, fracture item lists, production documents and test documents. Requirements A degree in Mechanical engineering or Aerospace Engineering At least 2 years of work experience in FDT in the aerospace industry At least 2 years of experience with material properties for complex space stuctures Strong knowledge of Matlab The ability to meet objectives on schedule and to achieve and coordinate workflows efficiently Strong communication skills to work with different counterparts at all corporate levels Assertive and persuasive personality Fluency in English, both verbal and in writing German language skills are an advantage.
