Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of Earth Observation. Happiness of our employees has proven key to obtaining excellent results and a client who also regards us highly for excellent service. Overview The work will be performed onsite at ESTEC within the Earth Observation Project Teams. In preparation for the commissioning phase CP which aims at validating the instruments and products, a HW and SW infrastructure has to be established to assess and simulate the optical and the topographic instruments. This infrastructure will consist of instrument simulators SPS and prototype Ground Segment processors GPP, provided through the Industrial consortium, plus additional tools necessary to perform commissioning tasks for geolocation, coregistration, storage of products, etc, which need to be identified and made available by the Agency. On top of the HW and SW infrastructure, test procedures shall be developed, which prepare the activities defined to be executed during the CP. This shall include means to react in a flexible way to contingencies. Preparation of scenarios, rehearsal and replanning of activities are foreseen as well. In particular the tasks include Operate and control the instrument simulators and data processors HW SW infrastructure, including task preparation in the perspective of rehearsalscommissioning activities Generation of instruments simulated Packets using instrument simulators SPS Generation of Optical and Topography products using processors GPP Analysis of results on packet level visavis a defined success criteria Analysis of SW anomalies Support the preparation and execution of the Ground System Validation GSV Support to specifications of expected anomaly corrections and MMI improvements Implement the nominal and contingency test procedures for the execution of the activities defined in the CP tasks During CP, being responsible for the execution of the test procedures Support the preparation and execution of the handover process between development and operations. Antenna Performance Simulation

Haigh-Farr combines its expertise in antenna design with specially developed software tools to simulate the performance of antennas in real world environments. When antennas are placed in a working environment, such as on the body of an aircraft or space vehicle, the proximity of metallic and dielectric structures, (complex ground planes, cylinders and fins), could affect their radiation patterns in an unanticipated manner. The resulting change in the coverage may adversely affect the performance of the communication link. In order to avoid costly and time consuming trial-and-error procedures to fix these problems, computer modeling is used to optimize the performance of the antenna in its actual environment. Early in the design cycle simulation may be used to change the shape and spacing of structures to further increase antenna performance.
