Power Conditioning Engineer

We are currently looking for a Power Conditioning Engineer to support our customer in the Netherlands. Power Conditioning Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities In this role you will be working in the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management at ESAESTEC. You will have the following responsibilities Design, development and test of spacecraft power systems for onboard applications Development of simulation blocks for system analysis batteries, solar cells arrays, power control and distribution units Support to laboratory activities concerning design and development or verification of circuits for power management and distribution Active involvement in critical RD activities support Assisting to the development and validation of worst case simulation blocks for electrical equipment analysis converters, shunt regulators, current limiters, protections, critical telemetry or telecommand functions The development and verification of high voltage design technologies and associated power converters. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Physics Strong electrical power processing background, together with a good experience of digital and analogue electronics and control theory Experience in the domain of power conditioning electronics together, with hands on knowledge of the circuit design of such systems Experience in the development of computer models, especially with SPICEbased simulators Knowledge of and experience with High Voltage power conditioning for space application would be an asset Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Electrical Power Supply System Engineer for MTG Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European leader in exciting and technologically sophisticated projects in the areas of space transportation and satellites. Your tasks will include Act as single point of contact to customer contractor regarding the Electrical Power Subsystem EPS engineering at MTGS satellite level Coordinate EPS performance and IF commonality between MTGS and MTGI satellites Continue finalise MTGS satellite level EPS design based on Phase B2 results and BDR PDR findings and recommendations Maintain update the EPS design documentation as part of the overall MTGS Satellite Technical Description Maintain update the EPS design justification as part of the MTGS Satellite Design Justification Document Maintain the detailed power and energy budget at MTGS satellite level to demonstrate system viability during all mission phases Demonstrate adequacy of MTGS EPS architecture by analysis simulation Maintain update the voltage drop analysis based on simulations to ensure that the selected EPS design will meet the requirements regarding voltage drops in power harnesses and interfaces Perform the verification programme for the integrated EPS being compliant with the agreed Subsystem Verification and Test Plan Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Experience with European space projects Experience with power supply systems Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of German is an advantage. Provide technical contribution to the ongoing ESA BepiColombo spacecraft development programme. Provide technical advice to team members within projects and programmes. Key Accountabilities Key member of the clients BepiColombo system engineering team, in the role of technical lead for the Power Processing Unit PPU being developed by Astrium Crisa Spain. The PPU comprises multiple power supplies that are required to operate the clients built ion engines that are the heart of the interplanetary propulsion system on BepiColombo. Providing technical leadership for the PPU, ensuring compliant technical solutions and managing interfaces with the BepiColombo system.
