Along with 2.0 TB capacity, Mercury Electra MAX 2.5 in solid state drive (SSD) uses MLC flash and offers SATA 3.0, 6G speed fully compatible with SATA 2.0 (3G) and SATA (1.5G). Controller technologies include global wear leveling algorithms, free space management, hardware error-correcting code, and security protocol support, including 128/256-bit-AES full-disk encryption. Respective read and write rates reach up to 490 and 471 MBps nominally or 466 and 447 MBps for incompressible data.
