Cotton yarn prices have not followed the rebound of cotton prices in China, where prices are even dropping on the polyester market. Cotton yarn imports from India have soared in September to the detriment of Vietnamese shipments. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose, and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. Polyester prices have begun stabilizing in China, where raw material costs are no more significantly declining, and operating rates could be lowered in the coming period. Polyester prices have also been slightly cut in Pakistan and in India. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Spun yarn prices have fallen across the board in the past week in India, with all categories of products being affected by the lower fiber prices and the weakness in demand. Cotton yarn exports could rebound, however, over a return to more competitive prices on the international market. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester, and 100% viscose.
