Viscose prices have remained unchanged in the last week in China whereas rising in Pakistan. Spun yarn prices have moved into different directions in the two countries. The global viscose market is relatively depressed this year, and leading producer Lenzing has released lower results in the first quarter from record levels in 2017. Cotton Prices on International and Domestic Markets (Weekly Report)

China could sharply raise its cotton imports in the next season, according to first forecast by the USDA covering 2018-19. It should be enough for supporting cotton prices at currently high levels, given the new jump of cotton imports from Vietnam and Bangladesh, and whatever an expected rise of ending stocks outside China.
