(Telecompaper) In a week of high stock market volatility, the news flow from the telecom services sector was relatively light. KCOM, the local British incumbent accepted a higher takeover offer, Tele2 signed a network sharing deal for the Baltics and BT signed a deal with Cellnex. Polish shares did especially well in week 23. Our index ended the week up 1.2 percent, behind the EuroStoxx 50's 3.0 percent gain.

(Telecompaper) The Telecompaper Stock Index European Telecoms Services managed to squeeze a minimal gain of 0.1 percent out of week 22, which was relatively light on major news. The EuroStoxx 50 index was down 2.1 percent. The week's winner, Turk Telekom (+11% for the week), and a solid performance of Vodafone (+2.6%) supported our index.

(Telecompaper) Network investments and complicated mergers left a mark on the European telecoms sector in week 21. However, our telecoms index managed to outperform the broader market. The TPSI European Telecoms Services was down just 0.6 percent, whereas the EuroStoxx 50 lost 2.2 percent. A few micro caps did well, including Icelandic Syn (+8.4%) and German Ecotel (+6.8%). Telefonica Deutschland was the biggest loser (-11%), apart from penny stock Forthnet (-13%).

(Telecompaper) Vodafone's quarterly results and dividend cut set the TPSI European Telecoms Services lower last week. The index ended week 20 down 0.7 percent, against a 1.9 percent gain for the EuroStoxx 50 index. Iridium, without significant news, and 1&1 Drillisch also ended the week down sharply. The winners included mobilezone and Rostelecom.
