Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in remote sensing or a related subject Understanding of optical remote sensing techniques from space A thorough understanding of the interaction between instrumentplatform characteristics and processing impact, including product quality Remote sensing methodologies and techniques, including calibration and Level 1 processing Development of Level 1 data processing systems for large multiinstrument operational space programmes Validation of Level 1 data processing systems Standards for data formats, in particular NetCDF4 or HDF5 Software engineering, requirements specification, design, testing and integration, ideally to ECSSISO standards Software development in CC, Python, under UNIXLinux, build environments, e.g. make, automake, autoconf, RPM Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Position Reference 938 On behalf of ESA, we are currently looking for a Radio Navigation Engineer to work in its Site ESTEC in the city of Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The key person will mainly work on GALILEO Ground Segment processing facilities, supporting the GALILEO Ground Mission Segment GMS team. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Evaluation of GMS design and evolution, with a specific focus on GMS Algorithms and performances incl. RAMS aspects, ensuring the design, development, deployment, verification, tuning and validation of the Ground Segment functions that generate and monitor the navigation products i.e. Ephemeris, Clock, Group Delay, Code Phase Biases, etc. ... in line with the allocated performances for service provision i.e. accuracy, continuity, integrity and availability requirements and development constraints. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree MSc minimum in telecommunications and signal processing, electronic engineering, computer science or other scientific disciplines, with at least 4 years of relevant working experience in these fields. Experience in the management and monitoring of industrial activities, including participation in reviews. Specific knowledge in the design and testing of Ground Segment algorithms related to the generation and monitoring of the navigation products i.e. Ephemeris, Clock, Group Delay, Code Phase Biases.... Knowledge on Resource Abstraction layers e.g. hyper convergence, virtualisation, containerisation and data centric processing. Relevant experience with the GNSS and GALILEO systems and equipment, along with a good knowledge of Radio Navigation processing, simulation and testing systems. Eligibility for security clearance from your national security administration. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. The following skills would be highly desirable Specific knowledge on algorithms for clock ensembles, realtime clock anomaly detection and automatic fault compensation.
