Oil drops as US stockpiles lift on imports

Brent for May settlement fell $US1.07, or 2.6 per cent, to $US40.72 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange. Oil extended declines after a US government report showed crude supplies climbed to the highest level in more than eight decades as imports surged.
