EU's clothing imports have plunged in the second quarter, with China experiencing a limited decline in volume, and especially in value terms. Other origins have resisted and improved their market shares, whatever the double-digit fall in their shipments. Shipments from China have less dramatically dropped in volume terms, even rising in euro terms. Our report covers monthly EU-27 clothing import data per origin, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs. Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs. woven clothing. US apparel imports have tumbled further in July, however falling at a slightly slower pace than in June. The decline is mostly due to a dramatic drop in Chinese shipments, which have been halved in value terms. Our report covers US apparel imports on a monthly basis, comparing shipments from most origins in the last month and the year-to-date. Import data are available in volume, value, and unit value terms. Historical trends are analyzed over the 2000-2020 period, including cotton vs. man-made fiber apparel, and China vs. Vietnam and the Rest of the World (RoW).
