Various stakeholders representing German and U.S. industry and government attended the event, which also focused on issues related to ISO and IEC, sectorial updates on digital agenda, Industry 4.0 Smart Cities, and electric vehicles.

RIA Announces Carole Franklin as standards development director.

Robotic Industries Association (RIA) announced Carole Franklin, PMP, as new Director of Standards Development for RIA. As expert project manager and facilitator, Franklin's prior work with consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton included process improvement and communication projects for clients at federal R&D facility (TARDEC). "After seeing robotics up close while supporting TARDEC," said Franklin, "I’ve been looking for an opportunity to get more deeply involved in the industry."

Elise Owen, named standards executive at U.S. EPA, will coordinate its participation in voluntary consensus standards bodies and ensure activity aligns with agency goals and mission. In addition to facilitating international standardization activities in public and private sectors, including expertise in Chinese and broader global markets, Owen served as associate VP, global strategy and analysis, at AdvaMed as well as ANSI director of international development.

Published by NSF International, NSF/ANSI 212015 establishes minimum sanitation requirements for materials, design, and construction of new thermoplastic containers intended for indoor and outdoor storage of refuse. ASTM International published ASTM D349215, Standard Specification for Rubber Contraceptives (Male Condoms), to ensure condoms are manufactured to safety requirements. This ANS is intended to assist buyers in obtaining condoms of consistent quality.
