In this position you will contribute to and lead projects related to the development, implementation, improvement of ground based services and systems. You will as well be responsible to attract new projects for SES and SES Techcom. In cooperation with SES internal and external partners, you will develop technical and business solutions. Key activities include customer requirements collection, engineering of communications systems, preparation of and or contributions to request for proposals, studies, reports, specifications, contractual documentation and operational guidelines, leading of multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Ground Segment Engineering Support Office and will initially provide support to the Directorate of Telecommunications Integrated Applications DTIA in preparing and managing ARTES Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems application activities. This will include evaluating application proposals and coordinating consultancy from other HSO experts managing applications contracts and reporting participating in reviews of application activities assisting analysis of the costbenefit and business case for integrated solutions supporting applications outreach events supporting the Head of Office in formulating and implementing the Office objectives and strategy, in particular for increasing collaboration in the area of ground segment engineering within ESA and with third parties. Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture SOA and Systems of Systems SoS frameworks would be an asset. They should also demonstrate knowledge of satellite communications, satellite navigation and satellitebased Earth observation. The ability to understand and respond to user needs is important for this post. Knowledge of business planning and business case evaluation is desirable. The postholder will be required to work in a diverse and international environment liaising with engineers in and outside the Department.
