Inside of the Galileo Project in our engineering team we offer the following career option Technical Manager for Galileo Ground Segment mf Your Mission As a core team member of the Galileo Service Operator GSOp, DLR GfR mbH operates and manages the constellation of Galileo satellites from the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen in Germany GCCD. The Maintenance Engineering team inside the Galileo Project is the driving force behind the staggered implementation of the Level 2 and Level 3 maintenance of the Galileo Ground Infrastructure Galileo Mission Segment, Galileo Control Segment, GNSS Service Center, Galileo Security Monitoring Center. As Technical Manager, you are a key player in helping this organization to reach its goal while you develop an impressive knowledge of the Galileo system and manage effectively critical stakeholders relations ESA, GSA, etc. Youll be working closely with system architects and project managers. Your responsibilities within 6 months include Developing relationships with managers, leaders and operational staff, noting their concerns and questions and developing a communication plan introducing the changes Working with Product Assurance and key stakeholder groups to develop, document and implement processes, procedures, metrics and systems for key Ground Segment Maintenance activities. Leading effort to ensure that requirements are approved within design and budget constraints Reviewing the new system designs and making recommendations regarding its operability and maintainability Successfully completing the system matter expertise training and augmenting it with personal readings, shadowing and handson practice with the Galileo maintenance and troubleshooting environment. In 12 months, you will be highly independent and requiring minimum direction, working on activities such as Chairing Galileo technical boards, assigning and following up on actions Participating in subcontractor readiness assessments and performance reviews Managing the handover activities between the software development and the software maintenance entities Participating in the acceptance process of assets and deliverables, including audits and verification activities. In two years, you will be the technical authority defining and monitoring the implementation of Galileo Ground Infrastructure minor evolutions and maintenance releases. Your Qualification Several years of experience 5 years in one or more of the following disciplines 1. Experience in SW Development LifecyclePracticesStandards Project 2. Integration and verification of complex software systems 3. Project or Supplier Management Solid understanding of information processing fundamentals and best practices of information technology Knowledge of navigation ground segment such as EGNOS or Galileo would be an asset An advanced level of English is mandatory Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills Experience providing guidance and leadership to novice systems engineers

For our customer, Eumetsat in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking to creat a team of engineers having Ground Segment and Subsegments System Engineering experience. Responsibilities The general activities are The SW architect will perform all the analysis tasks identified below. Engineering Activities system development or upgrades Writing of Requirements document and System Concept papers Writing of possible system concepts and system architectures with traceability to identified needs, to determine levels of uncertainty and risk Conduct tradeoff studies and select the preferred system concept, together with the preferred technical solutions for this concept Establish a preliminary design definition for the selected system concept and retained technical solutions Identify and define external interfaces Determine the verification program including model philosophy Prepare the next level specification Completion of the detailed design definition of the system Completion of assembly, integration and test planning for the system and its constituent parts Detailed definition of internal and external interfaces Verification Control for the requirements to be verified by test proposedefine the testing activities. Contribution to Validation Activities Support to scheduling and executing of all the validation activities and testing in close coordination with EUMETSAT Ensuring sufficiently in advance of the execution of the tests that relevant procedures, tools and data are ready to be used, performing any final tuning or setup as necessary Organising, supporting and holding in coordination with the EUMETSAT Technical Officer TO the corresponding Test Readiness Reviews TRR Performing assigned validation activities according to the plans, procedures and arrangements, documenting and supporting analysis of the test results Organising, supporting and holding, under the direction of EUMETSAT, the corresponding Test Review Board TRB meetings in which completion of the validation activities will be assessed Supporting Anomaly Review Board ARB meetings if applicable Liaising with EUMETSAT teams and development contractors for technical issues related to the utilisation of the facilities, the communication of anomalies, the followup of their resolution and installation of patches or new releases.
