This support includes the development of planning and simulation tools and in particular of MAPPS, which in use by the MarsExpress and VenusExpress missions and is currently being adapted for use by the Rosetta mission. The contractor will be assigned in a small team, to contribute to the maintenance and further evolution of the MAPPS software, as well as to provide firstline support to the SOCs mission planners and scientific users, based at ESAC Madrid. Specific requirements The contractor will be assigned to the EGSE and Ground Systems Section of the Software Systems Division and shall function as an integrated team member of the development team, in charge of the following initial tasks Providing the MAPPS software deliveries following the existing maintenance and release procedures. Improving these procedures where needed also considering the long lifetime of the software. Verification and validation of the software and execution of the test procedures. Further evolution of the test software, e.g. extending the test cases to cover new features and improving the level of automation. Implementation of new MAPPS features, especially in the area of the Graphical User Interface, but also in backend processing software. Provide firstline user support e.g. helping the user configuring and using any new features, analysing potential bugs and providing fixes. Qualification Requirements A university degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline. In particular experience with Software engineering and objectoriented programming Programming languages CC andor others Graphical User Interface programming Qt toolkit, others Software Engineering Standards such as the ECSSEST40C Software bug reporting systems e.g. Mantis, JIRA, etc. Software versioning systems, such as CVS, SVN and GIT Windows and Linux, others Knowledge of Space Systems and Space System Engineering will be an asset. The contractor shall be able to function as part of a team. Because of the operational nature of the support, a proactive and flexible attitude will be required. Experience with operational software development will be an advantage. This position may in the long term 2 3 years evolve into a more direct integration at the user premises ESAC, Madrid. As such, the contractor shall be willing to relocate to Madrid in due time.

The Role SCISYS is seeking to recruit a senior modelling and simulation engineer to lead the EAGLE development and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to perform a significant role not only within SCISYS but also within the European Space industry. In addition the successful candidate will be able to lead innovations and assist defining strategies not only within the Space industry but also for accessing a wider market for EAGLE. The candidate shall detail the level of their expertise and experience with MatlabSimulink for modelling closedloop control systems in their application, as well as their expertise in guidance, navigation and control. The candidate should also include details of team leadership experience and customer interaction that is relevant to this role. Tasks The work covers the areas of Electrical Ground Support Equipment EGSE, databases, simulation benches, including those used in software validation facilities and spacecraft AIT, ground data processing systems and ground facilities software in general. More specifically it covers Modelling of systems including spacecraft, ground segment and other required auxiliary systems. Elaboration, development and promotion of tools for distributed and collaborative engineering. Support for mission simulation, science operations planning and scheduling and experiment operations verification. Elaboration, development and promotion of the concept of generic simulation testbeds such as ATB, applicable for different projects, including preparation and promotion of relevant standards. Realtime simulation infrastructure and tools based on different platforms, including LINUX environments. This infrastructure can support both hardwareintheloop and manintheloop simulation. Support to ESA project teams in activities related to the procurement of EGSE for space systems, subsystems and instruments including preparation of requirement specifications, monitoring of industrial activities, acceptance of industrial products and participation in project reviews. Support to ESA project teams in activities related to the development of space system database software and utilization including support to specification, architecture, implementation, software problem solving, exchange and interfaces with external systems, data modelling verification of consistency and completeness of data, compliance with technical documentation, project reviews.
