Motorola launches ad campaign for upcoming Moto X

2013-07-04 09:04:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Motorola Mobility is launching a new ad campaign to promote the upcoming Moto X smartphone. Launched on 03 July just ahead of the US's national holiday, the ads will focus on how the smartphone is assembled in the US and can be customised by the user ("Designed by you. Assembled in the USA"). The campaign, developed by Droga5 and Publicis Groupe's Digitas, includes full-page spreads in the 03 July editions of The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and Washington Post, Ad Age reports. The new ads also feature a redesigned Motorola logo, with a rainbow-coloured ring surrounding its original 'M' and 'a Google company' written below. The company declined to provide further details on the phone, saying only that it's "coming soon". A report from ABC News said the users will be able to customize the look of the device with different colors and an engraving. Motorola's new 500,000-foot factory in Texas will enable it to deliver the personalized device to buyers within days of placing the order. Through a website, buyers will be able to select from a palette of different colors. One color can be used for the back case and another can be selected for the trim of the phone. Users will also be able to engrave a name or message on the back cover as well as upload a personal photo through the site to be used as the wallpaper on the phone's screen, according to people familiar with the plans. Other features of the phone will include Android 4.2, enhanced voice controls and a feature to 'flick' the phone in order to launch the camera, the report said.
