HP quarterly revenues grow, led by computer sales

(Telecompaper) HP reported revenue for its fiscal third quarter to July up 1 percent year-on-year to USD 27.6 billion. Growth was led by its computer business, where revenues rose 12 percent year-on-year. HP grew both in the consumer and business segments, with total unit sales up 13 percent. At its Enterprise division, revenue rose 2 percent, with servers up 9 percent and networking revenue growing 4 percent. Enterprise Services revenue was down 6 percent year over year, and Software revenue fell 5 percent. HP's net earnings fell to USD 0.52 per share from USD 0.71 a year ago due to restructuring costs and were below the company's outlook of 59-63 cents. Adjusted EPS rose to USD 0.89 from USD 0.86, in line with HP's guidance. HP CEO Meg Whitman said she was "very pleased" with the company's progress and had increasing confidence in HP's turnaround. For the fiscal fourth quarter, HP forecast adjusted EPS of USD 1.03-1.07 and reported EPS of USD 0.83-0.87.

Twitter revenues, user base grow in Q3, losses widen

(Telecompaper) Twitter reported further growth in its user base in the third quarter, reaching an average 231.7 million monthly users compared to 218.3 million in the second quarter. In an amended SEC filing for its IPO, the company said it generated revenues of USD 168.2 million in the three months to September, up from 82.3 million a year ago thanks to the growth in the user base and the expansion of its advertising products such as promoted tweets. The company's net loss swelled to USD 64.9 million in the quarter from USD 21.7 million a year earlier. Twitter also announced that it will list on the New York Stock Exchange after the IPO.
Dutch consumer TV revenues grow to EUR 384 million study

(Telecompaper) The number of digital TV connections in the Netherlands rose 1.7 percent during the first quarter to 6.478 million lines, according to a study by Telecompaper. The total includes 3.67 million cable TV subscribers who also have an analogue TV connection. Almost 84 percent of all Dutch consumer TV connections use digital TV services. Telecompaper expects the number of digital TV connections to grow this year by 7.5 percent to around 6.85 million connections at year end.

Dutch broadband lines grow to 6.65 mln, revenues up 3.4%

(Telecompaper) The Dutch broadband market rose 0.6 percent, or by 37,400 net additions, in the first quarter to 6.65 million connections, according to Telecompaper's quarterly broadband report. DSL's 1.1 percent quarterly decrease was offset by cable growing 1 percent during the quarter and FTTH/B growing almost 6 percent. DSL is still the largest broadband technology with 3.14 million lines, with cable catching up with 2.99 million lines. FTTH/B had a market share of 7.8 percent at the end of Q1. Telecompaper estimates that consumer broadband retail revenues lifted 3.4 percent in Q1 to EUR 478 million.
