For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking a Data Services Software Engineer to work in the Technical and Scientific Support TSS Department supporting routine operations. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a member of the Generic and Systems Infrastructure Division GSI, the key person shall provide support to the development and maintenance of data services systems. The duties range from the support to the operation of the EUMETSAT Earth Observation Portal to the analysis, design, development testing and maintenance of software functions maintaineddeveloped within the Data Services Engineering Team. This may include the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. The particular focus on the tasks to be performed are the operational support and the design, implementation and testing of software corrections and evolutions. In particular the tasks will include Operational Support for data services systems oMonitoring the performance and behaviour oProblem Investigation and anomaly raising oFirst Line System and Software support oInstallation of software oOnCall support. Design, implementation and testing of software corrections and evolutions oUser Interface Development oServer Side Development. Testing oUnit and Integration Testing oAcceptance and integration of external software oVerification Validation support. Requirements management oReview and analysis of user requirements oSpecification of system and software requirements. Generation and maintenance of technical documentation oSystem and Software Requirements oArchitectural Design oInterface Control Documents oSoftware Unit and Integration Test Plans oMaintenance Procedures. Participation and organisation of technical meetings and formal reviews Preparation and production of routine reports In the performance of these activities, the key person shall follow the relevant operations change control and maintenance procedures. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person must have excellent team working skills, being able to work autonomous and have good analytical skills. Essential Minimum 5 years of each System Maintenance Skills oExtensive experience in the provision of first line support for operational systems, which includes the monitoring of the performance, problem investigation, coordination of resolutions and oncall support. Software Engineering Skills oExtensive experience in designing and developing software components and applications in the Java programming language under Unix Sun Solaris, Linux using Object Oriented OO approach including design patterns for web portals. oExtensive experience in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMSand management of their schema. System Development Maintenance Skills oStrong technical expertise for translating user requirements into software requirements, architecture evolution and implementation. oExtensive experience in software development and maintenance using a formal life cycle resulting in deliveries to customers. This includes requirements management, software design and implementation reflecting corrective and evolutions of software components. oExtensive experience in software validation and verification related activities test procedure generation, nonregression testing, requirements verification and validation. Documentation and Software Configuration Management Skills oExperience in using software configuration management, anomaly reporting and tracking tools. Software Technology Skills oJava programming language oUser interface development using JSF MyFaces, Primefaces oWeb Services Apache CFX oTomcat application server oOracle JDBC, SQL and PLSQL oXML, XML Schema and XSLT technologies oSoftware Source Code control system SubVersion oSoftware Building and Package management ant, maven oUnit testing frameworks JUnit oEclipse. Tasks The EUMETSAT Data Centre Archive currently provides ingestion, archiving, cataloguing and retrieval services to the MTP, MSG and EPS Programmes, for the EUMETSAT user community. As a multimission facility, the Archive will be evolved to offer the same services for the MTG Programme taking into account specific MTG Programme needs. This evolution requires support to prepare the Archive to manage the high data volumes and data rates generated by the MTG satellites. In addition to this, suitable formats for delivery of the MTG data and products as well as ondemand User data access services, required e.g for calibration, training or visualisation purposes, need to be enhanced.
