We are currently looking for a LEO Positioning Navigation and Timing Systems Engineer to support our customer in the United Kingdom. Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of a dynamic organization, you will have the following responsibilities Specify future LEO PNT systems, hybridising techniques used for GNSS augmentation with high performance broadband satellite communications services Engage with the research and industrial base, to define and direct research activities, to build consortia and to secure collaborative RD projects that will be used to develop, test and validate the service concepts Engage with enduser communities and channel partners to create solutions that ultimately exploit the deployed capabilities Work with a small multidisciplinary team of engineers to develop satellite system and service concepts, undertaking system design tradeoffs, creating simulations of system behaviour, and analysing performance Support the transition of LEO PNT system through a development, testing and deployment phase. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Degree in Satellite Navigation or a relevant discipline Minimum of 5 years in the satellite navigationGNSS domain Indepth understanding of the principles underpinning GNSS augmentation Practical experience in the specification, design and modelling of GNSS or similar systems Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. This job is located in Harwell. Kepler picks SpaceX to launch two batches of Leo nanosatellite constellation

(Telecompaper) Kepler said it selected SpaceX as launch partner to deliver a portion of its first Low-Earth Orbit (Leo) satellite constellation into space on the back of SpaceX's reusable Falcon 9 launcher. Kepler bought 400 kg of launch capacity from SpaceX for the deployment of multiple satellites. These spacecraft incorporate both a high-capacity Ku-band communications system and a narrowband payload, for both high-speed data transfers and for low-power direct-to-satellite IoT connectivity.

ITU identifies new bands for 5G, procedures for LEO megaconstellation operators

(Telecompaper) About 3400 delegates from 165 member states have signed the International Telecommunication Union's Radio Regulations' Final Acts, the international treaty governing the global use of radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits. The signatures were given during the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19) at Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh , now concluded. The biggest takeaway from the conference was the identification of more frequency bands for 5G and the establishment of regulatory procedures for mega constellations of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites.
