JOB DESCRIPTION The key person shall be integrated into the Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operations Team, led by the Copernicus Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operations Manager, within the Flight Operations Division of the Operations and User Services Department. Responsibilities Duties Tasks The tasks of the Key person will typically include Support to the commissioning and routine operations of Sentinel 3A, and preparing for Sentinel3B comprising Provision of operational expertise to their relevant system ref. to Table 1 in particular, with support to other platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground segment operations interfaces Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Post launch Support Office PLSO in ESTEC and space industry Support the coordination of partner agency interactions for relevant subsystemsinstruments Participation in the satellite oncall support rota Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces. Support to the system and operations preparation of sentinel3 C and D satellites Provide inputs and I or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites. Support to the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites Provide operations preparation support as required to the Sentinel6 development. Qualifications University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Required knowledge The Key person shall have a demonstrated experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills, with a particular emphasis on relevant Systems of their work assignment relevance Experience of at least 5 years of Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3axis stabilised spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine operations phases Experience of at least 3 years of SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation tool Demonstrated experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. Desirable Knowledge Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB File parsing languages such as PERL, A WK Use ofVBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. The candidate should be selfmotivated and able to work in an organised and efficient manner with minimum supervision. We are looking to further enhance our team by Copernicus Senior Satellite Operations Engineer 3 positions You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The key person shall be primarily assigned to Sentinel 3 system operations preparation and support to 3A routine, covering all satellite and system FOSPDGS components aspects related to operations engineering for the platform, payload and instrument data handling, instrument parameter and OBSW maintenance, as well as FDIR and OPS security aspects for the management of encryption and authentication functions. The key person shall be trained to provide operations expertise and support to further platform subsystems and I or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. Eventually, each position should be able to ensure the backup of any of the 3 positions, to ensure routine operations and the first recovery actions. The key person shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the key person shall support system and operations preparation activities for Sentinel3B and for the recurrent mission with respect to their related activities. The key person shall be required to support operations during normal working hours, as well as support the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis.
