Satellite Payload Operations Engineer

Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The key persons will be integrated in the MSG Spacecraft Operations Team. Hisher tasks in the area of the spacecraft payload subsystem and also some platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Familiarisation with the MSG satellite design and existing operations procedures as necessary Support the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MSG spacecraft and commissioning of MSG4. Provision of Satellite Operations Engineer SOE oncall service Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecraft payload, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews for payloads and platform e.g. eclipses, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc Contribute to the maintenance of o Automated and Manual procedures, o Operations database, o Special operation instructions, o Other operational documentation e.g. SOE Guide, Contingency Ops Guide, etc for the preparation and execution of System Validation Tests, commissioning and onorbit satellite operations Support for the maintenance of the MSG Flight Operation Manual Satellite simulator maintenance support and provision of the necessary input to the simulator maintenance team Support to the satellite monitoring and control facility maintenance team to ensure that the facility, including the telemetry analysis tools, is always fit for its purpose Participate to the activities related to the MSG Routine Operations Support provided by the MSG satellites manufacturer and as appropriate by the GERB Instrument operational authority Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MSG Spacecraft platform and payload and associated ground segment elements Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Participation in the preparation and specification of system updates Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Preparation presentation of Flight Ops Team training material wrt SC Operations Contribution to the MTG system operations concepts for SC operations related topics. Support, as requested, the specification and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments. Support the MTG operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects Support, as requested, the satellite simulator development procurement followup and maintenance and provide the necessary input to the simulator team. Review technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Participation to the definition and execution of the Operational System Validation activities such as SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to system commissioning. Contribute to the definition of MTG commissioning activities. The specific tasks will be specified in the applicable work packages and mutually agreed in advance. Your Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key persons shall have experience of spacecraft operations. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key persons to have experience with some of the following MSG andor MTP satellites operations or geostationary satellite operations in general Routine spacecraft operations in general Operations preparation of a satellite project Operations andor design of the Mission Communications Payload MCP and the MSG satellite Geostationary Radiation Budget GERB Instrument.

This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is for a Consultant with at least 3 years experience in a Ground Segment team, providing support to requirements analysis, architecture design and requirement implementation of the ground stations as part of a preparatory satellite programme. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. The successful candidates duties will range from the analysis, design, installation and testing of the ground stations. This may include support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external service providers. The duties will nominally cover the entire development lifecycle. The tasks of these positions include in particular Operations service provision in the areas of MTGI and MTGS satellite and instrument level operations concepts Review of technical specifications and design descriptions Module and unit level reviews, when required Review of satellite and instrument modes and the transitions between them Review of the Autonomy and FDIR concepts with particular attention to the development and management of Action Sequences and OBCPs Review of the specification of the PUS customisation with particular attention to the module specific services and to the implication on the development of the S2K based MCS. Review of operational concepts with a dependence on ground calculated inputs e.g. OnBoard Orbit Propagator OOP. Review of instrument operability concepts with particular attention to the management from ground of large numbers of configuration parameters, and their onboard interdependence.
