The sharp rise of polyester staple fiber prices for the second consecutive month in September has resulted in lower margins at Chinese spinning mills whereas they were however rebounding in India. Our monthly report compares polyester staple fiber and polyester spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan, in both local currency terms and US$ terms. Gross margins of spinners are also calculated on a monthly basis. Historical data back to 2007 are available for download.

IFC, Gap partner to cut energy use in Pakistan textile sector

Spinners have been able to partly restore their margins in September in India whereas their Pakistani competitors were confronted with a fall of the yarn/fiber spread by contrast.
