AOCS Engineer South East England Permanent AOCS Team Leader The development, delivery and operation of AOCS on SSTL spacecraft covering a number of mission types and products. Key Tasks Work Package Manager within the AOCS Team responsible for the AOCS subsystem of a spacecraft for the duration of the mission from cradle to grave. Typical duties include o Top level design and requirements capture, including working with payload requirements to derive AOCS requirements o AOCS system and operation design and verification, including all interactions of the AOCS with the rest of the spacecraft system and subsystems. o Subsystem module, sensor and actuator definition and requirements. Monitoring design, production and test. o AOCS mode, algorithm and control design o AOCS software requirements and TMTC o LEOP and commissioning of the AOCS o Authoring of Technical documents o Interaction with customers o Managing the budget and schedule Additional responsibilities will include o General design support within the Team and across projects o General software development support within the Team and across projects o Support to bid activities, studies and RD as required PERSON SPECIFICATION essential requirements Qualifications A relevant degree or suitable equivalent in Engineering Experience Proven experience in AOCS, covering o System level design o Control and estimation o Hardware and software o Verification Some experience in operations is recommended Knowledge Skills Good knowledge of Dynamics and Kinematics of Spacecraft Good knowledge of control and estimation Good knowledge of simulation and office software packages. Proficient with programming C across multiple platforms Good management, people and presentation skills
