(Telecompaper) Amazon.com is in talks with media companies to add live TV channels to its Prime Video services, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. Prime already offers a range of on-demand content, and the new service would feature live channels like those seen on cable and satellite TV. A spokesman for Amazon said the company did not have plans to license TV channels or offer a pay-TV service, but the company continues to work on expanding the selection on Prime, including commissioning its own content. According to the report, Amazon is still in the early stages of discussions with media companies, and it isn't clear it will move forward, the people familiar with the matter said. Amazon is also developing a set-top box to stream video, much like a Roku player, the Wall Street Journal previously reported.
