Development of this system appears unlikely while it drifts northeastward over the southeastern United States during the next couple of days. After that time, this system could merge with a frontal zone over the western Atlantic Ocean. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent. Shower activity associated with an area of low pressure a few hundred miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands has increased and become a little better organized this morning. However, significant development of this system is not expected due to a unfavorable dry air mass that prevails over the tropical Atlantic Ocean. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent. A tropical wave is forecast to move off of the west coast of Africa by late Sunday.
