For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Computer System Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities The Computer Systems Engineer CSE shall provide support to the EUMETSAT operational Ground Segments. The duties will range from the support to the operation of the UNIXLinuxbased ground segment facilities, to the analysis, design, development, testing and maintenance of distributed hardware and system software platforms. This will include the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. Requirements Essentials Apart from a university degree in a relevant field, the key person should have the following background Proved experience of assessing and administrating computer systems and be very experienced in IT system design. The experience shall have been made in an operational or production environment, driven by high availability requirements. Proven knowledge and handson experience with the following is mandatory o extensive experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed systems, expert knowledge and a significant work experience of Linux operating systems Redhat and SLES, o good experience in VMWare virtualization o good IT system design skills o good understanding of incident and problem management o UNIX operating systems i.e. Solaris, AIX, virtualization technologies, system administration. Desirables Experience in the installation, administration and troubleshooting on some of the following shall be considered as an advantage Dell HP computers running Linux Solaris and MS Windows System Administration RAID arrays EMC SAN Fabrics Brocade Backup and recovery systems Application procedure Important All applicants must hold a current valid work permit for Germany or be EU nationals.
