Our German activities grow at fast pace and to face our costumers high level expectations and needs, we are looking for talented profiles having relevant experience in Space systems and applications. This is an opportunity for a motivated and experienced engineer to work for our EUMETSAT customer within a new and interesting space mission. The Engineer shall support the Operations of Copernicus related missions with respect to EUMETSA T s Data Centre Archive and the related ondemand data access services to users, required e.g. for calibration, training support or data visualisation purposes. In addition to this it is expected that the Engineer is contributing to the enhancement of the offered data services resulting from new User Requirements, User Feedback and continuous service improvement tasks. HeShe shall be part of the Data Centre Operations Team in the User Support and Climate Service Division USC in the EUMETSA T Operations and Services to Users Department. PROFILE The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree in a relevant discipline. Operational experience, ideally gained in ground segment operations. Experience in testing and tools. Good knowledge of standards, conventions and formats used for Earth Observation EO Satellite data. Hands on experience with EO data formats such as NetCDF and ideally GRIB or BUFR At least 2 years experience in using the UNIX operating system. At least 2 years programming experience in shell script andor Perl. At least 2 years experience in using XML, XSL and associated Tools. Users support experience. The following skills would be highly desirable Earth Observational Data visualisation tools. Archiving and storage technologies. Software development experience in the area of Java, JavaScript, GUis and Web technologies. TASKS EXPERIENCE You shall support the ondemand data access services to users required for calibration, training support or data visualisation purposes. In addition to this it is expected that you will contribute to the enhancement of the data service offering resulting from new User Requirements, User Feedback and continuous service improvement. The scope of work will include Performing the analysis and reporting of anomalies observed in the facility and in executing the operational tasks. Acceptance testing and operational validation of new upgrades and enhancements prior to release. Analysis and handling of related user enquiries and user requests received from the Helpdesk. Maintenance and updating of Data Centre documentation user guides, format guides, operational procedures, technical notes, etc. Support to the configuration of the Archive, Retrieval and Data Access Infrastructure. Support to the regular monitoring of the service performance. Support to the Archive reporting. Support to the development of the NetCDF product formats and the CF metadata standard. Provision of conceptsprototypes to support service developments in the Data Centre.
