For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking a Data Processing Operations Engineer to support the routine operations phases of the Meteosat Second Generation MSG, Meteosat Transition MTP and EUMETSAT Polar System EPS Programmes. Tasks The engineer shall work in the Realtime Services and System Operations RSO of the Operations and Services to Users Department as a member of the Data Processing Operations DPO Team supporting the operations of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems. The tasks of the engineer will typically include Supporting routine operations involving the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems including o Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 products and EPS Level 0 and Level 2 products o Investigating anomalies relating to the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 products and EPS Level 0 and Level 2 products o Preparing and reviewing technical documentation relating to data processing operations o Providing Standbycallout support. Supporting the further development of the MSG and EPS data processing systems including the specification and validation of system updates Supporting the operations preparations for future MSG and EPS spacecraft Supporting the preparations for Meteosat Third Generation Attendance to technical meetings Participation in formal reviews. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Essential A minimum of 3 years of experience in the realtime acquisition, Level 0 processing and Level 1 processing of data andor Level 2 processing of data from imaging andor sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft Significant experience in validating complex remote sensing data processing systems Experience with UNIXLinux operating. Desirable Imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft Programming Languages e.g. C, C and Fortran Scripting Languages e.g. Perl, Python, shell Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Knowledge andor experience of geophysical remote sensing data processing, e.g. Image Navigation and Registration INR, radiometric correction, calibration algorithms and retrieval of geophysical. The engineer shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Fluency in English is mandatory and a working knowledge of French would be an advantage, together with good communication skills.
