We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a Data Processing Systems Engineer You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The Key person will provide engineering support to the Jason CS Ground Segment Data processing team in the frame of the Jason CS Programme. The Key person will support activities initially related to Phase B, followed by Phases C and D of the Jason CS Programme in the area of data processing engineering. In detail, support will be provided for the following tasks Requirements engineering in DOORS for Jason CS data processing requirements. This includes review, specification and refinement of existing requirements, their uptraces to parent Ground Segment specifications, justifications and verification methods Ensure coherency of requirements with algorithms specifications Definition of ICDs between data processing elements and other GS functions Definition of Testing and Operational scenarios for data processing elements Definition of data processing concepts and tradeoffs to support requirements understanding and justification. Support the procurement of data processing elements by advising on technical solutions proposed by the contractor and by reviewing documentation to confirm its compliance with the requirements Support management of the requirements baseline for data processing elements Support refinement of ICD Support testing, integration and acceptance of data processing elements Participation in formal reviews and technical meetings. In addition, there will be regular involvement in the following tasks requiring interaction and coordination with other teams at System and Ground Segment level Review of System and Ground Segment documentation dealing with requirements, concepts, algorithms and technical analyses of relevance for data processing, including review of instrument data processing algorithms and calibration concepts with emphasis on their implications on Ground Segment data processing concepts, interfaces and architecture in the course of which support to the prototyping of algorithms and production of test data may be required Review of documentation dealing with technical evolutions of the Clients infrastructure. The performance of these tasks shall comply with the Clients organisational and divisional rules, management standards and working practices. The set of applicable rules and working practices will be made available at start of the duties. Your Profile Mandatory Attributes, Skills and Experience In addition to having a University degree or equivalent, including experience in the engineering, physics, or software or similar domains the key person shall have the following mandatory attributes, skills, and experience Relevant experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces and testing documentation for data processing systems considering the systems engineering aspects of data processing management and data provision Requirements engineering process, including relation between requirements, ICDs, design and testing documentation. Relevant experience in monitoring and implementation of designs against requirement baselines and IVV, testing and formal acceptance The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. This ability must be exercised within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams, covering several different data processing levels and instruments Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of Jason CS. This includes the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context Systematic approach to work, be able to plan the work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks Ability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. The working language for the position is English and therefore the person must be able to work effectively in this language. Desirable Skills and Experience Previous experience and knowledge in any of the following areas will be considered an additional asset Knowledge of the IBM DOORS tool or an equivalent for requirements management Knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS standards Relevant experience with L0L1L2 processing software for Earth Observation missions, either for operationsmaintenance or specification and development.
