Europes Meteorological Satellite Agency EUMETSAT invites you to join their Polar SystemSecond Generation EPSSG programme! This is an exciting Earth Observation EO programme that involves multiple spacecraft monitoring the Earth over a 20 year period. This project will be one of the most important sources of satellite observations for Numerical Weather Prediction and climate monitoring in the 20202040 timeframe. This role offers you the chance for personal and professional progression within the organisation, and you will be in regular contact with EUMETSATs programme partners such as ESA and CNES. To be successful, you should have skills in System Architecture requirements, design, validation etc along with experience of the EO domain. Previous experience of high performance computing HPC, knowledge of processing framework applications or software intensive Big Data architecture could also be suitable for this position. Along with a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline applicants require skillsexperience in each of the following areas Proven experience in Data Processing Systems And Applications engineering following well established system engineering processes, covering the full development lifecycle and relevant technical standards e.g. ECSS, CCSDS, OGC Ability to manage complex tasks with minimum supervision, including planning and prioritisation of activities, allocation and coordination of resources, monitoring and reporting. Good interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to apply these to a team environment while working within a matrix structure Understanding and experience in the management of industrial contracts in the area of round segment engineering Competence and infield proven experience in the area of Data Processing Systems and Applications Verification Validation VV activities Relevant experience in Data Processing Systems and Applications maintenance will be considered an advantage. The successful candidate shall have the ability to work autonomously whilst being able to proactively communicate with stakeholders including scientists, engineers and senior managers. The working language for EUMETSAT is English and French. Candidates require a good working knowledge of English, both spoken and written, a knowledge of French would be considered advantageous.
