Location ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany Description Data Systems Engineer in the Applications and Special Projects Data Systems Section, Mission Data Systems Division, Ground Systems Engineering Department. The postholder will be responsible for the definition, implementation, acceptance and maintenance of mission data systems e.g., robotic mission data systems, mission control systems, simulators, SSA data systems. Duties providing early highlevel definition of mission data systems and related cost and schedule estimates specifying the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users defining and specifying their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties preparing and supervising the necessary industrial contracts for these systems procurement, design, implementation and maintenance accepting the deliverables received from industry, ensuring their correctness, completeness and compliance with the applicable requirements supporting the mission operations team as required in the various operational phases, including system validation tests, simulation campaign, and as Software Coordinator during critical operational phases such as launches coordinating with other internal to ESOC or external units contributing to the establishment of standards for space data systems and software engineering participating in RD activities for mission data systems, focusing on CubeSat and exploration mission data systems. A significant portion of the initial assignments will be devoted to managing SSA data systems in close coordination with the SSA Data Centre Manager. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
