Solenix is specialized in the provision of highquality software engineering, technical consulting and operations services in the aerospace domain. This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. Data Systems Manager 1823048 Job Description We are looking for a Data Systems Manager for our client ESOC. You will manage the Mission Data Systems MDS, which include Mission Control System, Mission Planning System, Operational Simulators, Service Provision Data Centre and Advanced Software Applications. The primary areas of activity for the requested service relate to the following Preparatory work for future Human and Robotic missions OnSite software development for adhoc RD projects, innovation tasks, Lab projects The above areas will include tasks such as Development and Maintenance of Mission Data Systems Specification and management of Software Requirements Contractual and technical work for the start of a new MDS project Running the MDS software development and maintenance projects Support the Management and perform ESOC internal activities related to MDS deployment, testing, configuration etc according to ESOC internal processes. Support to Missions critical activities Organisation of Software Support SWS onsite environment preparation Role of Software Coordinator Support to missions during the whole lifetime via Review of MIRD and contribution to MIP Definition of external and internal interfaces Contribution to the SFIRD, GSSRD, GSSTP and review of SGICD Ground Segment Reviews Regular progress meetings with Project and ESOC team SVTSOVTE2E tests and in general FCT activity Mission closure and retirement of SW and HW items Support to 3rd Party and Special Projects via Defining the technical and organisational setup of ESA service, including SLA and costing with the ESA service manager. Interacting with ESA external 3rd party entities e.g. EUD, GSA, DLR, NASA, . Bringing a data systems perspective towards external entities, in particular to recommend agreement on technical and organisational interfaces. Coordinating the inhouse and industrial data systems team. Interacating with companies of new member states in preparation process for new activities. Assuming the data system architect role for special projects which are not based on reference architecture of ground segments for missions such as SSA, METERON, IAP. Contributing to bring OPSGD and Data Systems perspective in collaborative projects with other ESA entities, in the context of special projects and future missions e.g. NAV, TEC, HRE. Coordinating the inhouse developments of MDS for small missions. Supporting study, innovation and standardisation by Preparing proposals Running approved studies or innovation works Organising and coordinating joint projects with other agencies in the context of standardisation e.g. interoperability testing, prototyping Supporting ESA as a member of international Standardisation working groups Support other tasks At division level Quality Management and actively contribute to improve ESOC internal processes and tools OPSGI infrastructure activities The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility, independence and team spirit. Required Skills and Experience Engineering service in the domain of Service Provision Data Centre or Advanced Software Experience in Development and maintenance of Mission Data Systems Service Provision Data Centre and Advanced Software Applications development MDS project and documentation Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. You will also have experience in Project management Software engineering Development and maintenance of big software projects Requirements management knowledge of tools, e.g. doors Knowledge of ESOC infrastructure Scos2000, SIMSAT, Egos MPS, EGSCC ESOC operational environment Spacecraft especially for the SIM Standards Engineering and Quality Awareness of the technology trends and interest in RT Fluent spoken and written English You will also possess team spirit attitude to share information cooperative attitude with team members rather than competitive ability to capture the bigger picture and the system context communication skills capability of adapting to circumstances openness and reliability independence in working on own tasks leadership negotiation capabilities ability to interface with several different areaspeople in ESOC capability to establish and maintain good working relationships with Industry and FCT Desirable Skills and Experience Knowledge of the METERON systems, in particular MOE and MOPS would be an important asset. Knowledge of CCSDS Mission Operation MO Services, ESA GSTVi systems and dtn would be an asset.
