Engineer, Network Operations United States Manassas, Virginia ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Network Operations Engineers are vital members of the SES Network Operations Center NOC. Network Operations Engineers are customer focused professionals that provide leadership and technical expertise in the support of SES customers and services. In this role, you must be highly motivated, disciplined, dedicated to making a positive difference, obsessed with customer success, driven to provide an extraordinary customer experience and willing to assist and help other team members reach their highest potential. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Provide exceptional customer support. Serve as the main pointofcontact and facilitate all communications between customers, vendors, internal and external fix agents necessary to resolve daytoday technical issues Provide Level II and Level III technical support. Ensure all events are properly documented, escalated and reported. Initiate timely technical and management escalation as required Monitor all satellite, ground and terrestrial network elements to assure mission critical traffic and customer connections are operational with minimal degradation or outages as specified in Service Level Agreements SLA Provide coaching, training and supervision to junior staff COMPETENCIES Ability to communicate, manage, and implement technical solutions on a globalenterprise scale Strong analytic and proven strategic management skills Strong presentation skills, ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of internal staff and management as well as with client and vendor representatives Creative problem solver Sense of urgency, initiative and competitive drive to complete tasks efficiently and effectively Resourcefully work through or around any challenges with little to no supervision Ability to make sound decisions and take full ownership Ability to work in a fastpaced environment Ability to gather, organize and analyze large amounts of data with speed and accuracy as well as detect relationships and make decisions using sound methodical judgment Ability to multitask by managing, tracking and resolving multiple issues simultaneously Effective time management skills, takes initiative in the absence of direction and exercises independent judgment without constant supervision Excellent written, verbal and electronic communications skills necessary to manage the high volume of telephone calls and email involving highly technical issues QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Strong customer orientation with excellent interpersonal and troubleshooting skills B.S. or M.S. degree in telecommunications, information technology or engineering Cisco Certified Network Professional CCNP Certification. CCNPSP Preferred 5 years of technical support experience in a network operations environment Exceptional knowledge of BGPMP, HSRP, OSPF, RIP, VLANs and VPNs Exceptional knowledge of MPLS LDP, L2 and L3 VPN, Traffic Engineering Exceptional knowledge of Multicasting IGMP, PIM, SSM Knowledge of Network Management Systems EM7, HP OpenView, Nagios, Netcool, ZenOSS Knowledge of satellite or wireless communications Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts that may include nights, weekends and holidays in a diverse and multicultural operations environment under pressure and time constraints Must be an US Citizen or Green Card Holder Must pass background and drug screening OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS COMMENTS Language skills English additional languages a plus Whats in it for you?
