Engineer, Network Systems Luxembourg Betzdorf This position primarily supports the preparation of technical proposals in response to international tenders and contributes or lead the architecture, the design, specification, implementation and improvement of the communication, networking and ground segment system required for the satellite and hybrid communication systems. Key activities include the collection of SES customer requirements, the engineering of communications systems, the preparation of technical studies, reports, specifications, contractual documentation and operational guidelines and the coordination of small multidisciplinary and multicultural project technical teams while working with SES internal and external customers and partners. The incumbent is responsible for attracting new projects for SES in cooperation with the Sales team heshe will contribute to or lead the preparation of tenders and proposals. Primary Responsibilities Key Result Areas Deliver multidisciplinary projects and services to international customers within the agreed budget, specification and schedule, meaning Design, engineer and scale netwrk environments that meet customer expectations for scalability and security and help SES expand its service offering by leveraging appropriate technologies and standards Engineer, implement and maintain cmprehensive and consistent security solutions to mitigate identified risks to an acceptable level Perfrm technical security assessments of systems and applications to identify vulnerabilities and noncompliance with established security standards and recommend effective mitigation strategies Assess system and applicatin security requirements, threats, vulnerabilities and security risks in complex, heterogeneous systems and throughout their life cycle Supprt the definition of policies, processes, procedures, configuration baselines and guidelines to ensure appropriate security risk management throughout the system life cycle Design, specify, and implement netwrk solutions, comprised of VSAT, Earth stations, Base stations, communication systems and software systems Perfrm transmission analysis, in particular link budget calculations, and studies in support of business development and customer services Prepare the cmmercial documentation such as system requirements specifications, technical system specifications, operational procedure, cost estimations and contractual documents in coordination with other internal and external parties Perfrm system design, handle budgets, handle procurements, manage installations and the operational handover of ground segment and communications systems In the scpe of the project, coordinate with other functions Project Control, Legal, Finance for the transparent and effective realization of assigned project In cordination with the Service Management team, prepare operational procedures and ensure the second Level Customer Support for the delivered system Interface with external partners e.g. custmers, NGOs, Government bodies, investment partners, vendorsproviders, shareholders, etc. Take an active part in SES Services proposal activities through the provision of Technical Specifications, Statement of Works SOWs and Cost Estimations, in response to customer Requests For Information RFI customer Requests For Proposals RFP, whereby the activities could include the setup and supervision of small interdisciplinary proposal teams in function of the technical and commercial proposal preparation and the contract negotiation process Proactively scopes the technical solution required to address customer requirements, assesses customers met and unmet needs, and recommends solutions that optimize value for both the customer and the firm Awareness and evaluation of relevant technological developments, market trends, competitive factors, customer requirements, standardisation licensing and regulatory aspects Competencies Good understanding of project management incl. budget management Ability to integrate into andor lead crossfunctional andor virtual project teams Proven written and oral communications skills Strong analytical and problem solving skills An innovative spirit and be business proactive Proactive approach towards potential andor current customers Excellent interpersonal skills Good conflict management skills in a multicultural and interdisciplinary setup Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team Qualification Experience Master Degree in Information and Communications Technology ICT andor Telecommunications or equivalent Minimum 5 years of applicable professional experience in network implementation and management Systems engineering experience with communications from satellitetoground, airtoground and groundtoground Sound knowledge in satellite communications, networks and systems, as well as data networking principles, and operational support systems Indepth and practical knowledge of system security risk management, including system security risk assessment, specification of security requirements, definition of security concepts, design of secure systems, implementation of security controls, specification of secure configuration baselines, assessment of security controls and vulnerabilities Experience in presales engineering e.g. technical proposal, cost estimation, facing customer is considered as an asset Proven projectbudget and time management experience Knowledge of performance, risk, cost, and schedule analysis Sound knowledge with network design, deployment and operations, with emphasis on TCPIP based networks running over different physical media Familiar with UNIXLinux Operating System, Virtualization platforms including VMware, Cloud Computing Knowledge of IT practices and standards such as ITIL or DEVOPS frameworks Solid knowledge of IT security threats, vulnerabilities, security technologies, controls and best practices Fluent in English proficiency in other languages is a plus especially French Excellent written and oral communications skills Excellent interpersonal skills Willing to travel internationally Key Requirements NATOEU SECRET clearances are considered a strong asset.
