Gap raises profit outlook as sales pick up in 4Q

The retailer says it expects to report a profit of $2.86 to $2.87 per share for the year, up from its previous estimate of $2.73 to $2.78 per share. Gap Inc. says its revenue fell in January as sales for its namesake brand slumped, but its Banana Republic and Old Navy brands reported improved results.
