POST Ground Control Segment Principal Engineer in the Ground Segment Engineering Support Office, Ground Systems Engineering Department, Directorate of Operations. This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESOC, Darmstadt Germany, with a resident assignment in ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands. DUTIES The postholder will initially be assigned as integrated support to the Galileo Ground Control Segment Procurement Service, Galileo Ground Segment Procurement Office, Galileo Programme Department, Directorate of the Galileo Programme and NavigationRelated Activities and will report to the Head of Galileo Ground Control Segment Procurement Service, discharging the following responsibilities and duties management of unclassified and classified GCS Technical Baseline evolutions applicable requirements and standards followup of design activities at Segment level architecture, performances, segment, components and site security accreditation, paying special attention to virtualisation technologies support for the procurement of GCS elements, focussing on the automation control aspects and endtoend mission planning support for other segments space, operations, GMS, security for the provision of expertise related to GCS interfaces and functionality provision of technical input to the GCSrelated procurement process, including ITT datapack production, internal reviews and proposal evaluations monitoring and assessment of evolutions in the constellation monitoring and control area interactions with other Galileo segments maintaining effective interfaces with other disciplines in the project, in particular with System Engineering and Operations leading the ground control segment activities for Galileo 2nd Generation G2G this covers internal studies performed by ESA and technical management of study contracts placed with European industry, including ITT preparatory activities and technical followup of industrial teams. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline as well as substantial experience of ground system design, development, deployment and testing in phase CDE space projects. Systems engineering experience in a relevant context and a sound knowledge of automation and virtualisation technologies will be considered an asset. Candidates are expected to be result oriented, have a proactive attitude to problemsolving, plus good planning and organisational skills. They should demonstrate responsible decisionmaking and be able to work and communicate effectively in a team setting. Knowledge of modern computer systems, programming languages, engineering standards and tools such as DOORS is required. Familiarity with the data processing solutions and techniques for satellite control systems is also desirable. Applicants must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff in general, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French.
