Summary A technically capable, enthusiastic and confident individual, with knowledge of space systems and the physical principles of remote sensing. Objective To join a team of space systems experts, supporting national and international Earth Observation programmes. Responsibilities Duties Interaction with instrument scientists, production teams, Space Agency staff EO data quality analysis and reporting Support to development of products and services based on EO data e.g. derived data products, geoinformation services, climate services Travel to European customer sites Continuous improvements to automated data handling tools Supporting bid activities Qualifications Experience Degree or equivalent experience in relevant technical subject e.g. Physics, Remote Sensing, Geography, meteorology, climate science, Aerospace Engineering General understanding of satellite systems and orbital mechanics Understanding of remote sensing principles Essential Skills General IT skills for standard office use Basic knowledge of scripting or programming e.g. Python, Linux scripting, Java etc Good written and verbal communication Desirable Skills Experience using data from Radar or Optical satellite payloads Commandline operating system use Linux an advantage Developed knowledge of scripting or programming e.g. Python, Linux scripting, Java etc Knowledge of data formats relevant to Earth Observation e.g. netCDF, XML Qualities Selfmotivated and inquisitive Professional, systematic and thorough Comfortable working in an international environment Flexible and willing to work on a range of activities, to meet business needs Good team worker Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early.
