This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is for a Consultant with at least 5 years experience in operational product generation from satelliteremote sensing data. In addition the Consultant shall have experience in validation of geophysical products from satellite data. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. The successful candidate will be part of the clients Technical and Scientific Support Department whose role is to develop, implement, validate and evolve operational observational products from the clients satellites. The geophysical products most relevant to this post are those involving different cloud processes derived both from geostationary and polar orbiting satellite data. The Consultant shall have experience with Algorithm software development using Fortran 9095 in a Unix environment Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification Source code control systems, preferably Subversion Anomaly correction and configuration management processes Python and IDL programming languages Common meteorological data formats like BUFR, CAP, GRIB, HDF5 and netCDF UnixLinux operating systems Desirable experience includes Relational Database using SQL Algorithm software development using CC programming language Authoring clear and concise technical documentation The working language is English.
