Mission Control System Integration and Verification Engineer

For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking an engineer to support the integration and verification testing of both the Satellite Monitoring and Control Systems MCS and at Mission Control Function level including Flight Dynamics and Mission Planning Systems. Tasks Integration and Verification activities Integration of the various components of a MCS and integration of the MCS with the rest of the systems in the Mission Control Function. These integration activities include software development, software configuration, adjustment of interfaces, analysis and solution to problems, etc. Generation and updates of test plan and test procedures, both for the MCS and at Mission Control Function level. This activity covers functional verification testing and nonregression testing manual and automatic testing Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results, troubleshooting of problems, etc. Generation of test data and test tools that facilitate the software verification and nonregression testing Maintaining the verification status of the software requirement baseline for the MCS. Software Maintenance Activities Preventative and corrective maintenance including the investigation of anomalies in the software systems and verification testing of the fixes. Technical Management Generation and updating of technical documents Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Participation to technical, progress and team meetings as needed and requested. Software Engineering Methodology Analysis activities focused on a common software engineering methodology and common software engineering tools for the GSI Mission Control Applications and Tools Team Development of tools supporting these common software engineering methodologies. User Support Software support to the endusers of the application software Prepare and provide training covering endusage and maintenance aspects of the mission control facilities. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline. In addition, the engineer shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software maintenance and testing. Essential The engineer shall have skills and experience in software maintenance and testing with the following System Integration and Verification Skills Extensive experience minimum 3 years in integration activities for Satellite MCSs. This includes software deployment, software configuration, adjustment of interfaces and troubleshooting of problems both at subsystem and system level Extensive experience minimum 3 years in verification testing activities of Satellite MCSs following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system and generation of test reports Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the investigation of software anomalies and verification testing of fixes, preferably in the domain of Satellite MCSs. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. Software Engineering Skills Experience in the maintenance of software applications following formal softwareengineering processes including at least configuration management, changemanagement and anomaly reporting and tracking Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using Java underUNIX operating systems Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using C underUNIX operating systems Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing and troubleshooting. Documentation and Configuration Management Skills Very good knowledge of MS Windows Office Suite applications and experience withdocumentation management systems. Experience in using configuration Management and anomaly reporting and tracking tools. Desirable Domain Skills Knowledge and understanding of space related standards ECSS and CCSDSrelated to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Monitoring ControlSystems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet UtilisationStandard, ... Experience with Monitoring Control Systems for LEO spacecraft Experience with MICONYS Control System software from ESA Experience with EPOCH IPS MC Product Suite from Integral Systems nowKRATOS Knowledge of Flight Dynamics Systems Knowledge of Mission Planning Systems Experience with Satellite Simulators. Software Technology Skills IBM DOORS requirement management tool Experience in version Control Systems CVS and SVN Linux Operating System Software applications using ODBCJDBC bridges and programmatic interfaces to MySQL RDBMS Engineering of MySQL RDBMS Administration of MySQL RDBMS Interprocess communication mechanisms, in particular TCPIP and CORBAstandards XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLTand XPath Eclipse Rich Client Platform applications development. The engineer shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the engineer must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.
